Promoting Airsoft

A lot of people still don’t know what airsoft is, and Airsoft Great Britain would like to offer you some information regarding the sport & hopefully get you as hooked as we are.

Airsoft Great Britain is about promoting Airsoft, whilst making the general public aware of the sport. Encouraging teenagers to socialise and get off game consoles and out into the fresh air, running around, exerting energy & relieving pressures. The whole family can join in and get involved. Yes, females too!

Airsoft carries many benefits including:

  • Great fun
  • Exercise
  • Getting out
  • Meeting new friends
  • Team building
  • Professional networking
  • Or just letting off steam
  • Amazing days and nights

Airsoft is a sport in which participants eliminate opponents by hitting each other with spherical non-metallic pellets (called BBs) launched via replica firearms called airsoft guns, usually referred to as R.I.Fs (Realistic Imitation Firearms, whose use is governed by Law under the V.C.R.A 2007). Since airsoft pellets (known as BBs) do not always mark their target and hits are not always visibly apparent, airsoft relies on an honour system in which it is the duty of the person who has been hit to call themselves out regardless of whether or not anyone saw it happen.

Gameplay may vary in style and composition but will often range from short-term skirmishes, organized scenarios, C.Q.B (Close Quarter Battle), field and modern military simulations (MilSim).

These are played out at indoor courses (known as “sites”), and outdoor (fields & woodland sites). Combat situations on the battlefield may involve the use of military tactics to achieve objectives set in each game. Participants may attempt to emulate the tactical equipment and accessories used by modern Military, Police Organisations & Private Military Contractors.

Airsoft Great Britain aims to help create a National League across the country, teaming up with Universities, colleges and 6th form pupils who are already getting involved in airsoft teams. If you would like to find out more, then feel free to ask about your nearest airsoft sites and take advantage of their equipment hire arrangements for the day.
